MANILA, Philippines — Former Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo filed a certificate of nomination and acceptance on Monday, October 7 for a potential party-list seat at the House of Representatives.

Teo is the first nominee of Turismo party-list. She said she wanted to push for legislation that aims to boost the country’s tourism industry.

“Kailangan natin ng enabling laws, para mapatupad ito,” Teo said pertaining to the legislation party wanted to push.

(We need enabling laws for these to be implemented.)

She filed her certificate a day after his brother, Erwin Tulfo, filed a certificate of candidacy (CoC) for the position of Senator.

On October 5, his other brother, Ben Tulfo, also filed a CoC for the position of Senator, which now makes three Tulfos eyeing for a seat in Congress.

Here are the other Tulfo’s who are currently in politics or hoping to bag positions in 2025:

  • Her brother Raffy is a sitting senator and chairperson of two Senate committees
  • Raffy’s wife, Jocelyn, an ACT-CIS Party-list lawmaker
  • Raffy and Jocelyn’s son, Ralph Tulfo, filed CoC for Quezon City 2nd District representative

Controversies

On May 8, 2018, Wanda stepped down from her position as Tourism secretary after the Commission on Audit disclosed that she allocated P60 million worth of tourism advertisements to Kilos Pronto, a blocktime program on PTV-4, without a memorandum of agreement or contract in place.

The show is produced and hosted by her brothers, Ben and Erwin, who are both eyeing for Senatorial positions.

Following Wanda’s resignation, she was succeeded by Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
