Filing of intent to join BARMM polls extended
MANILA, Philippines — Politicians planning to run in the first parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have been given more time to file their manifestation of intent to participate (MIP) in the polls set next year.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) approved a resolution extending until Oct. 8 the filing of the MIP for the BARMM elections.
The poll body also decided to move the holding of party conventions to Sept. 30.
“Let the Bangsamoro electoral office inform all concerned parties within their respective jurisdictions of this extension,” the Comelec said. “Necessary measures should be taken to facilitate the smooth submission of the MIP within the extended period.”
The Comelec initially set the deadline for the filing of the MIP for the paliamentary elections of party representatives on Aug. 30, and extended this to Sept. 30.
Political parties were told to submit their lists of nominees and certificates of acceptance and nomination.
