Lacson: Still no decision on 2025 run
MANILA, Philippines — Despite his name being included in the supposed administration slate for the 2025 elections, former senator Panfilo Lacson on Friday said he still has no decision yet on whether he will run for senator next year.
“They say that you have to decide wholeheartedly… But I have not even reached ‘half-heated’ in my decision to return,” the former senator said on “Storycon” on One News.
“There will come a time, the ultimatum when I need to decide because you need to file (a certificate of candidacy). When the time comes, that’s when I will cross the bridge,” he added.
Lacson, who is consistently in the so-called “Magic 12” in election surveys, was included in the list of 12 possible administration candidates released by Sen. Imee Marcos.
Party leaders later said that the list is still not final.
Lacson, who ran for president against Marcos in 2022, said he is still unsure if he wants to return, saying “my life is already quiet now.”
But he admitted missing the relationship he built with his staff.
In his first presidential bid in 2004, Lacson also had an issue with Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino, prompting him to leave the party and run as an independent.
