Thousands flock to ports for long weekend voyages
People flock to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange yesterday to take advantage of the long holiday weekend. The transport terminal expects up to 170,000 passengers – higher than the daily average foot traffic of 130,000 – who will be traveling to nearby provinces in the Southern Tagalog Region and Northern Luzon.

MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of passengers flocked to ports across the country for sea voyages ahead of the long weekend, according to the Philippine Ports Authority.

In its latest update yesterday, the PPA said ports in the province of Bohol topped the list with 3,081 passengers.

The port in Batangas came next with 2,515 passengers, followed by Marquez port in Quezon with 2,481 passengers, Mindoro port with 2,473 passengers and Western Leyte/Biliran port with 2,368 passengers.

Meanwhile, the Port of Dumangas in Iloilo received 1,184 passengers and 355 rolling cargoes from Bacolod City, as well as sent off 1,444 passengers and 407 rolling cargoes sailing to Bacolod.

Also, 624 passengers from Bacolod City entered the Iloilo Fastcraft Terminal while 245 others left for Bacolod.

On the other hand, a total of 5,248 passengers trooped to the PPA’s port in Zamboanga on Thursday.

The PPA reminded sea passengers to secure their tickets from official ticketing offices and avoid buying tickets from fixers and scalpers.
