Comelec set to finalize party-list lineup for 2025
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) intends to resolve all pending petitions concerning accreditation of party-list organizations wanting to participate in the May 2025 midterm polls before the end of the month.
“We must come up with the final list. We have no choice but to finish everything that is pending before us,” Comelec Chairman George Garcia said yesterday.
He said they have set the deadline ahead of the scheduled raffling of numbers for party-list organizations.
Raffling of numbers means numbers are to be assigned to specific party-lists to be used in their chronological listing in the official ballots.
The raffle will be held by the second or third week of September.
So far, Comelec data show that there are still 29 petitions of party-lists up for resolution.
There are also 17 Motions for Reconsideration of party-lists that should be resolved.
Comelec has already dismissed petitions of 120 party-list applicants.
Garcia said, “Accredited so far as new party-list groups are 30 organizations.”
