MANILA, Philippines — Popular islands Palawan and Boracay were recognized as among the island destinations in Asia frequented by tourists, according to a travel website based in India.
TimesTravel of The Times of India named Palawan and Boracay as among the “8 Most Visited Island Destination in Asia,” ranked third and fourth, respectively, according to an article published on its website last Aug. 7.
The article described third place Palawan as “the last frontier of the Philippines due to its unspoiled natural beauty,” which houses “stunning limestone cliffs and turquoise waters of El Nido and Coron,” as well as the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.
Meanwhile, Boracay Island, fourth in the list, “offers various water sports and activities, vibrant nightlife and numerous dining options,” with White Beach as the “most popular spot” because of its powdery white sand, said the article.
Bali in Indonesia topped TimesTravel’s list, followed by Phuket in Thailand, Palawan, Boracay, Maldives, Langkawi in Malaysia, Havelock Island in India and Jeju Island in South Korea.
The Department of Tourism thanked TimesTravel for including Palawan and Boracay in its list of most visited island destinations in Asia.
