MANILA, Philippines — De La Salle University (DLSU) was ranked first among Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) in the 2024 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which tracks the impact and linkages of higher education websites.

At least 364 HEIs in the country landed on the global rankings, which rated over 12,000 universities and colleges globally.

Ranked first in the 2023 iteration of the rankings, the University of the Philippines Diliman slipped to second place, while Ateneo de Manila University and the University of Santo Tomas were ranked third and fourth, respectively.

DLSU climbed the global rankings to the 1,521st spot while UP Diliman fell to the 1,827th bracket.

However, UP Diliman remained the university with the highest Impact, Openness and Excellence rank among Philippine HEIs.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Top 10 are Mapua University, UP Manila, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, University of San Carlos, Mindanao State University in Marawi City and Visayas State University.

The world site rankings are published by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council, Spain’s largest public research body.

It tracks HEIs through the volume of content on their website, the visibility of its content and the impact of the published materials based on how much these are linked to other research materials online.
