Biz group lauds POGO ban

The Philippine Star

On behalf of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII), I extend our heartfelt congratulations to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. for his decisive action in announcing a ban on all Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs). This bold step marks a significant victory for the rule of law and the well-being of our nation.

The termination of the controversial and nefarious POGOs is a monumental stride forward for the Philippines. It promises not only to bolster our international public image but also to significantly improve peace and order within our communities. Moreover, this decision is poised to enhance our bilateral relations with China, which has consistently requested a ban on POGOs.

With the cessation of POGO operations, we are optimistic that the Philippines can now redirect its focus towards attracting legitimate foreign investors. This shift will undoubtedly contribute to sustainable economic growth and development, fostering a more prosperous future for all Filipinos.

Once again, we applaud President Marcos for his leadership and commitment to the betterment of our nation. The FFCCCII stands ready to support the government’s endeavors in promoting a secure, stable and investor-friendly environment in the Philippines. — Cecilio K. Pedro, president, FFCCCII
