MANILA, Philippines — Speaker Martin Romualdez made assurances anew that the House of Representatives will act swiftly on the remaining measures that President Marcos wanted passed when he delivers his third State of the Nation Address today.
“We are prepared to hit the ground running and deliver on our promises to the public. The SONA will set the tone for our legislative agenda, and we are more than ready to take the necessary actions to achieve our shared vision for a better Philippines,” he said.
“The President’s SONA will provide a clear roadmap, and the House is prepared to translate this vision into tangible legislative outcomes,” Romualdez said further.
The Speaker called on all members of Congress to unite in support of the President’s agenda, as he emphasized the importance of collective action.
“As representatives of the people, it is our duty to work together, transcending political differences, to enact laws that will uplift the lives of our fellow Filipinos. The upcoming SONA will inspire and guide us in this noble endeavor,” he said.
Rep. LRay Villafuerte, who heads the National Unity Party in the House, has also thrown his full support behind the leadership of Romualdez, where the chamber, “having done its homework,” passed nearly all bills listed in the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).
Villafuerte vowed to back the third and final session on the proposed P6.35-trillion national budget for 2025, the pending priority bills that Marcos had listed with legislators to foster his vision of a booming “Bagong Pilipinas” that will buoy up all Filipinos.
“The bigger chamber needs to take urgent action on the proposed 2025 General Appropriations Act plus the three pending measures from among the expanded list of 32 priority bills that had been drawn up by the President with the LEDAC, given that it already passed 25 of them as of the Congress’ latest sine die adjournment,” he said.
