LPA bringing rains over Visayas, Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area east of Mindanao is expected to bring rains over parts of the country today, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The LPA was monitored 255 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte as of 3 p.m.
The weather bureau said there is an increasing chance that the LPA could develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days.
It will be given the local name Buchoy once it develops into a tropical depression.
The LPA will bring scattered rains over the Bicol Region, Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon is affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon and Mindanao.
The monsoon will bring rains over the Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN and Kalayaan Islands.
Isolated rains are also forecast over Metro Manila, Bataan, the rest of CALABARZON and the rest of MIMAROPA.
The rest of Luzon may see isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
