Persons of interest eyed in 2 Chinese execs’ murder
MANILA, Philippines — Persons of interest in the kidnapping and killing of two Chinese business executives have been identified, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Xia Ke Fu, 39, and his Chinese-American companion Jimmy Sing Sun were killed by their kidnappers after collecting the three-million-yuan ransom.
Suspects initially asked for five million yuan.
The police Anti-Kidnapping Group is working on leads, PNP chief information officer Col. Jean Fajardo told reporters.
“We can’t provide more details to avoid preempting the ongoing investigation,” Fajardo said.
Xia is a marketing director at Suzhou RainMed Medical Technology.
The victims’ bodies were found on June 24 in a ravine in Barangay Patitinan in Sagnay town in Camarines Sur, based on a report by the Bicol police.
They arrived in the Philippines on June 20 on a business trip but unidentified men fetched them at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The families sought assistance of the Chinese embassy.
On June 28, the families went to Camarines Sur to identify the victims’ remains at a funeral parlor in Tigaon town.
It is too early to conclude the suspects’ motives, Fajardo maintained.
