MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos took to social media to voice his appreciation to his mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos, who marked her 95th birthday yesterday.

“Happy happy birthday, mom. Thank you for teaching me and your grandchildren to be gracious, kind and compassionate,” President Marcos said on his official Facebook page.

The post was accompanied by a photo collage of the former first lady together with the President and his three children.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said the President was expected to attend a birthday party for his mother on Tuesday.

“Yes, there is a celebration, but it’s a quiet celebration with family and friends,” according to a PCO official who did not say whether it will be held inside the Palace.

In a separate post on Facebook on Tuesday, First Lady Liza Marcos thanked Imelda for being a second mother to her.

“Happy 95th birthday Mama Meldy. Thank you for being a second mother to me. You are and always will be my first lady,” she said in her post, which was also accompanied by a photo collage of the former first lady and the first family.
