Turkish Navy’s anti-sub ship visits Manila
MANILA, Philippines — The Turkish Navy’s Ada-class anti-submarine warfare corvette TCG Kinaliada (F-514) is visiting the port of Manila from June 26 to 28, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the Philippines.
TCG Kinaliada has been on an expedition to various parts of Asia, visiting 24 ports in 20 countries during her four-and-a-half-month journey to demonstrate the capabilities of the Turkish Naval Forces, introduce Türkiye’s national platforms and enhance bilateral relations with the countries visited.
Launched in 2017 and commissioned in 2019, TCG Kinaliada is the latest ADA-class navy ship built by the Istanbul Naval Shipyard under the MILGEM national shipbuilding program.
It is integrated with advanced indigenous assets such as Türkiye’s first national surface-to-surface guided missile, ATMACA and the ADVENT combat management system.
Following the visit, TCG Kinaliada and Philippine Navy ships will also conduct a joint passing exercise to highlight the growing defence cooperation between Türkiye and the Philippines.
Relations between Türkiye and the Philippines have significantly developed across various sectors in recent years, including the defence industry and the visit of TCG Kinaliada is expected to further contribute to this process.
“We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Government of the Republic of the Philippines for the facilitation of this important visit,” a statement from the Turkish side said.
