Bato, Bong Go won’t leave PDP

Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ronald dela Rosa has no intention of resigning as a member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino as he and fellow Sen. Bong Go have “nowhere else to go.”

Dela Rosa said he and Go have already discussed the 2025 senatorial race where both will be running for reelection.

“I have no intention of leaving (PDP). Where am I going? I have nowhere else to go,” Dela Rosa said in an interview over the weekend with radio dwPM.

“Sen. Bong Go and I have already talked. We have to run our own campaign. We don’t expect anything; we are unlikely to be included in the administration slate and the opposition will also not accept us. We are just in the middle. We will only work hard and do guerrilla warfare-style campaigning. In the conventional war, we have to do our own guerrilla warfare,” he added.

Dela Rosa also confirmed that some members of PDP, chaired by former president Rodrigo Duterte, have left the party or expressed such intention in preparation for the 2025 midterm elections.

When asked about reports that Sen. Francis Tolentino,  a fellow PDP member who is also seeking for a reelection, may be leaving the party, Dela Rosa refused to give a categorical answer.
