MANILA, Philippines — A large batch of Filipino nurses has completed a complementary study program for nursing in Oslo, allowing them to work in Norway, according to the Philippine embassy.

Sixty-eight Filipinos were part of the 72 graduates of the Oslo Metropolitan University (Oslo Met)’s complementary study program for nursing. They were feted at a graduation ceremony on June 6 at the Oslo Rådhus (city hall).

Philippine Ambassador to Norway Enrico Fos attended the ceremony and congratulated each Filipino nurse for their achievement.

Completion of complementary study on theoretical and practical courses in nursing is required for nursing graduates from countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area in order to be able to work in Norway.

Fos thanked officials of the Oslo Met and the city government of Oslo for allowing the embassy to increase the slots and for supporting the program.

The program will open opportunities for more Filipino nursing graduates to work in Norway, Fos said.
