MANILA, Philippines — Double pay awaits workers who will report for work today, Independence Day, according to the Department of Labor and Employment.
DOLE reminded employers that for the first eight hours of work done during the regular holiday, workers shall get a total of 200 percent of their daily basic pay.
“For work done over eight hours, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate,” DOLE said in an advisory.
It added that employees who would choose not to work today shall still be paid 100 percent of their daily wage, provided that the employee reports to work or is on leave of absence with pay on the day immediately preceding the regular holiday.
An employee who will be required to work during a regular holiday that also falls on the rest day shall be paid an additional 30 percent on top of the basic wage.
DOLE said employers shall pay for work done more than eight hours during a regular holiday that also falls on the employee’s rest day, an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate.
