MANILA, Philippines — At least 23 areas nationwide could experience dangerous heat levels today, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
A high heat index of between 42 to 44 degrees Celsius could be experienced in these provinces, including Dagupan City, Bacnotan in La Union, Tuguegarao City, Bayombong in Nueva Vizcaya and Echague in Isabela.
Dangerous heat indexes could also be experienced in Iba in Zambales, Sangley Point in Cavite, Tanauan in Batangas, Calapan in Oriental Mindoro, Coron, Puerto Princesa and Aborlan in Palawan.
The state weather bureau said the high heat index could also be felt in Virac in Catanduanes, Pili in Camarines Sur, Roxas City, Iloilo City and Dumangas.
Sweltering heat is also forecast over Catarman in Northern Samar, Guiuan in Eastern Samar, Zamboanga City, Davao City, Cotabato City and Butuan City.
Heat cramps and heat exhaustion with heat stroke are probable with continued exposure, PAGASA warned.
The trough of a low-pressure area is bringing scattered rains over the Davao Region. Metro Manila and the rest of the country may see isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
