MANILA, Philippines —The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday confirmed eight casualties and five injuries from landslides and flooding triggered by shear line in the Davao Region.
The NDRRMC said that there were 15 deaths reported. Eight of these were validated and seven are yet to be verified.

Of the seven, five were documented in Davao de Oro while two were logged in Davao City. NDRRMC said these are still related to shear line-induced landslide.
The families affected by the shear line disaster also rose to 83,174 or 349,236 individuals, according to the NDRRMC report.
At least 11,797 individuals are currently staying in evacuation centers due to the effects of the shear line while 3,651 are outside evacuation centers.
Thirty-six families or 3,803 individuals were evacuated by the authorities pre-emptively, the NDRRMC said.
The shear line-disaster also affected roads in the Davao Region, with 11 of them non-passable and four bridges impassable.
Three houses were also reportedly destroyed while 13 were partially damaged.
One barangay has also declared a state of calamity.
A total of P15,002,554 worth of aid has already been provided to the affected individuals in response to the inclement weather, according to the NDRRMC.
