BI updates arrival and departure stamp for better security
MANILA, Philippines — At the start of the New Year, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) released an updated and more secure arrival and departure immigration stamp to prevent unscrupulous people from using them in their fraudulent activities.
In a statement, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco announced that they rolled out their arrival and departure stamps at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Dec. 29 and 30, to be followed at other international airports during the first quarter of this year.
Tansingo said revising the stamps was in line with the bureau’s intention to boost its security measures, while facilitating smoother entry and exit processes for travelers.
He said the recent updates in the arrival and departure stamps have been introduced in response to the evolving security landscape, emphasizing the necessity to periodically revise travel documentation.
“The Bureau of Immigration is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of security in our immigration procedures. The updated arrival and departure stamps are a proactive measure to maintain the security and credibility of our immigration process, ensuring the safety of our borders while providing efficient service to travelers,” Tansingco said.
He said this is also aimed to thwart the attempt of unauthorized entities to replicate or misuse the official immigration stamps.
The periodic revision of these designs serves as a crucial preventive measure against fraudulent practices, safeguarding the integrity of immigration procedures, the BI chief added.
Coming out with refreshed security features for the arrival and departure stamps is also in line with global best practices to ensure the authenticity and integrity of immigration stamps.
