MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) hopes to boost the tourism industry as it lobbies for more direct flights, particularly from Thailand and France.
“More direct flights between famous tourist cities of both countries will contribute to the success of ‘two countries, one destination’ concept which Thailand and the Philippines have been promoting according to the Implementation Program of the Agreement on Cooperation on Tourism,” said Thai Ambassador Tull Traisorat.
Meanwhile, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco pitched to French Ambassador Marie Fontanel more direct flights, particularly from Paris.
During her courtesy call to Frasco, Fontanel “received the proposal positively, noting as well that more French nationals ‘love the Philippines’ and eye to visit the country,” the DOT said in a statement.
