MANILA, Philippines — Most Filipinos are satisfied with the performance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), according to a recent survey conducted by the OCTA Research group.
Results of the Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 survey released on Monday showed that 85 percent of the respondents were satisfied with the country’s military.
It was composed of 28 percent who said they were “very satisfied” and 57 percent who said they were “somewhat satisfied” with the AFP.
Only two percent said they were dissatisfied with the military, while the remaining 12 percent said they cannot say if they were satisfied or not.
Across areas, satisfaction with the AFP was highest among those in the Visayas (54 percent “very satisfied” and 39 percent “somewhat satisfied”), followed by those in Mindanao (43 percent “very satisfied” and 48 percent “somewhat satisfied”), balance Luzon (19 percent “very satisfied” and 64 percent “somewhat satisfied”) and Metro Manila (six percent “very satisfied” and 66 percent “somewhat satisfied”).
Dissatisfaction with the AFP ranged from one to three percent across areas, while those who cannot say whether they were satisfied or not were highest among those in Metro Manila at 25 percent.
Among socio-economic classes, it was highest among those in class E (30 percent “very satisfied” and 58 percent “somewhat satisfied”), followed by those in class D (28 percent “very satisfied” and 58 percent “somewhat satisfied”) and class ABC (25 percent “very satisfied” and 51 percent “somewhat satisfied”).
The non-commissioned Tugon ng Masa survey had 1,200 respondents and a margin of error of plus/minus three percent.
