Shear line, monsoonto bring rain over North Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — A shear line will bring rain over some parts of the country as state meteorologists are monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) that may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the next days.
The shear line and northeast monsoon are affecting Northern Luzon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said the monsoon is also affecting Central Luzon.
Scattered rains may prevail over Metro Manila, Bicol, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Eastern Visayas and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), except Palawan due to the shear line.
The monsoon may bring light rain over Apayao, Aurora, Cagayan Valley, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province.
It will also bring isolated rain over Ilocos as well as the rest of the Cordilleras and Central Luzon.
The rest of the country may experience isolated rain showers due to the shear line and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rain.
The state weather agency said it is still monitoring a LPA spotted outside of the PAR, but is approaching Philippine landmass.
The LPA area may develop into a tropical depression as it enters PAR by Friday or over the weekend and will be called Kabayan.
