MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in San Francisco, California, officially kicking off his engagement in the 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

The presidential plane transporting Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and a delegation from the Philippines touched down at San Francisco International Airport by 5:06 p.m. (9 a.m. Manila time).

This marks Marcos' third visit to the US since taking office in June 2022.

Ahead of the APEC summit, Marcos is scheduled to meet with the Filipino community at the San Francisco Conference Center.

Marcos emphasized the significance of dialogues with leaders from the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on vital aspects such as bolstering the Philippines' food and energy security and empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) within the economic landscape.

He also highligted the importance of advocating for the rights and well-being of marginalized sectors, leveraging digital innovation and sustainable practices to empower women, indigenous communities, and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Marcos has important meetings lined up, discussing investments with key business leaders and holding talks to strengthen country-to-country relationships.

The Philippines has been part of APEC since it started in 1989.
