MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has transferred the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) from the Office of the President to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) as part of the government’s rightsizing policy.

“Pursuant to the rightsizing policy of the national government, it is imperative to streamline and rationalize the functional relationships of agencies with complementary mandates to promote coordination, efficiency, and organizational coherence in the bureaucracy,” read Executive Order (EO) 45, which was issued Wednesday.

DAP is the country’s dedicated knowledge organization that offers courses in governance, publication, leadership, management, organizational-based knowledge, and performance efficiency.

It also provides technical assistance, consulting, and strategic research and studies to address the country’s development issues and emerging challenges.

EO 45 also highlighted the "strong organizational link" between the NEDA and DAP, saying that closer coordination between the two would improve the services of the latter in terms of achieving the government's socio-economic agenda.

NEDA is the primary agency responsible for formulating continuing, coordinated, and fully integrated social and economies policies, plans, and programs.
