MANILA, Philippines — The United Nations is supporting the peace and development campaign of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The UN expressed its support for the AFP’s peace and development campaign through Saleh Tembo, security adviser for the Philippines of the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS).
Tembo paid a courtesy call on Maj. Gen. Steve Crespillo, commander of the Western Mindanao Command, at Camp Navarro, Calarian in Zamboanga City on Thursday.
The goal of Tembo’s visit was to reinvigorate the operational relationship between the AFP and the UNDSS, where he extended his full support for the peace and development campaign of the AFP.
Crespillo pledged to support the plans and programs of the UNDSS, which could contribute to the preservation of peace and order in the Mindanao region.
Both agreed that the good connection between the two organizations is crucial in the faster and better delivery of services to people during a crisis.
