MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang will pay tribute to Filipino teachers through the Konsyerto sa Palasyo on Oct. 1, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced.

“A night full of music from our talented performers is our gift to our beloved teachers,” the PCO said in Filipino in a Facebook post on Saturday.

The concert will be aired live on the Konsyerto sa Palasyo Facebook page, the PCO said.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1994 declared Oct. 5 as World Teachers Day.

In the Philippines, the country celebrates National Teachers’ Month from Sept. 5 to Oct. 5 pursuant to Proclamation 242 Series of 2011. Republic Act 10743 signed in 2016 also declared the fifth day of October of every year as National Teachers’ Day.

Malacañang also held Konsyerto sa Palasyo for soldiers and their families and Filipino athletes in April and August, respectively.

President Marcos initiated the concert series himself, according to Malacañang.
