Catholic bishops to attend servant leadership course

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Caritas Philippines Academy has organized a six-day executive course on “Servant Leadership and Pastoral Management in Our Times” in Tagaytay City from Sept. 18-23.

“We believe that this course will be a valuable resource for the bishops as they continue to lead the Church in its mission of love and service,” Caritas Philippines president Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo said in a statement.

Caritas Philippines Academy, designated by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines in November 2022 as the church’s official teaching and learning institute, will be offering the course for the first time.

With this course, they hope the bishops will be able to obtain the needed skills and gain more information to navigate the complexities of their leadership roles and promote the church’s mission of social justice, development, and compassion.

The course will cover topics such as pastoral management, governance, communications and organizational sustainability.

The course will help in improving and strengthening the processes, services, advocacies, and accountability mechanisms implemented in the dioceses. This will also help in professionalizing the management of pastoral affairs in the church.
