Palace declares provincial town holidays

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared local holidays in a city and towns of eight provinces.

In separate proclamations signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by the authority of President Marcos, special non-working days were declared in parts of Davao de Oro, Camarines Sur, Mountain Province, Sultan Kudarat, Northern Samar, Batangas, Bulacan and Sorsogon.

Proclamation No. 331 declared Sept. 14 a special non-working day in Monkayo, Davao de Oro to allow its residents to celebrate its 69th founding anniversary.

The Palace also declared Sept. 15 a holiday in the towns of Bombon, Canaman, Calabanga, Camaligan, Gainza,
Libmanan, Magarao, Milaor, Minalabac, Ocampo, Pasacao, Pamplona, Pili, San Fernando and Bila in Camarines Sur through Proclamation No. 332.

The proclamation included the 15 towns in the coverage of the Peñafrancia Festival celebrated in Naga City, citing their “significant economic, cultural and historic ties.”

The Friday immediately preceding the feast of the Our Lady of Peñafrancia was declared a special day in Naga City through Proclamation No. 654 issued in 2013.

Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 333, declared Sept. 15 a special non-working day in Bontoc, Mountain Province. The founding anniversary of the municipality is on Sept. 16, which will fall on a Saturday, so the local government requested that the special non-working day be moved on Friday.

The Palace also issued Proclamation No. 334 declaring Sept. 18 a special non-working day in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat to celebrate its 23rd cityhood anniversary and the Talakudong festival.

Proclamation No. 335 declared Sept. 22 a holiday in Mondragon, Northern Samar to celebrate its 140th founding anniversary.

Local holidays were also declared in two Batangas towns.

Proclamation No. 336 declared Sept. 27 a special non-working day in Malvar to commemorate the 158th birth anniversary of the late general Miguel Malvar, one of the most recognized leaders of the Philippine Revolution. The Philippine-American War hero was born in Sto. Tomas, Batangas on Sept. 27, 1865.

The municipality of Lobo will celebrate its founding anniversary also on Sept. 27, so a local holiday was declared through Proclamation No. 337.

Malacañang also declared Sept. 29 a special non-working day in San Rafael, Bulacan through Proclamation No. 338 and in Irosin, Sorsogon through Proclamation No. 339.

San Rafael will celebrate its 273rd founding anniversary while Irosin will celebrate the Paray Festival.
