MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has designated Hans Leo Cacdac as officer-in-charge of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Malacañang announced on Wednesday night.
Cacdac serves as DMW undersecretary for welfare and foreign employment.
Prior to his stint at the DMW, Cacdac served as administrator of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
He was also undersecretary for labor relations at the Department of Labor and Employment.
Marcos earlier said it is difficult to find a new DMW chief as dedicated as Susan Ople, who died on Aug. 22 from breast cancer.
Ople was appointed as first secretary of DMW, which was fully constituted in January this year.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) also announced on Wednesday the appointment of Jennifer Pia Las as chairperson of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).
Las served as NCIP’s commissioner in Central Mindanao.
Marcos also named Jose Lim IV as assistant secretary of the Department of Transportation, the PCO said.
