MANILA, Philippines — Police officers arrested on Wednesday in La Union a 40-year-old man for allegedly calling them corrupt.
The suspect, Antonio Libao, is being held on complaints of unjust vexation and disobedience to a person in authority or the agents of such person under Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code.
Investigators said three police officers were having a snack inside an eatery in Barangay Poblacion East at around 5:15 p.m. in Rosario town when Libao arrived
After drinking a glass of water, Libao allegedly shouted: “Pulis puro kotong lahat ‘yan (Police, they’re all extortionists).”
As they were humiliated in a public place, the police officers tried to arrest Libao but he escaped. Libao was apprehended after a brief chase. He was taken to the Rosario District Hospital for medical check-up before he was moved to the police station for investigation.
