NGCP vows to accelerate completion of major transmission projects
MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has promised to accelerate the completion of its major transmission projects after President Marcos’ reminder to complete its deliverables during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) yesterday.
“In response to the call of President Marcos at the 2023 SONA, NGCP pulls out all stops to expedite the full completion of the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection and Stage 3 of the Cebu-Negros-Panay project, both of which were partially energized earlier this year,” the power
transmission grid operator said.
The Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project will be fully energized to 450 megawatts by the third quarter of this year, according to the NGCP.
“We continue to call on all LGUs to provide the necessary support with the expeditious approval of all relevant permits and assistance with issues on right of way which continue to hinder the seamless implementation of these projects,” the company said.
The NGCP’s access to the State Grid Corp. of China’s technologies will serve as an advantage in supporting the move into the green energy space, it added.
The Chinese state-owned company holds a 40 percent stake in NGCP, which raised national security concerns in 2019.
