MANILA, Philippines — Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte will be the host and keynote speaker of the 9th Principal Congress organized by the National Association of Public Secondary Schools of the Philippines (NAPPSPHIL) Inc.

The event will be held from July 25 to 27 at the Vigan Convention Center.

The primary objective of the congress is to strengthen leadership competencies among school heads, focusing on upskilling and reskilling in support of DepEd’s MATATAG initiative, which stands for “Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa.”

The congress aims to provide school leaders with the necessary tools and knowledge to enhance their leadership abilities. It will also serve as a platform to showcase best practices, innovations and research conducted in schools.

Moreover, the event will provide valuable insights into the Career Progression System for teachers and school heads.

“We are honored to have Vice President Duterte as our host and keynote speaker. Her presence and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the success of this event, which aims to empower and inspire school leaders, while promoting excellence in education,” said NAPPSPHIL national president Warlito Rosareal.

The Vice President will shed light on the meaning of the MATATAG initiative, which aims to make the curriculum relevant to produce job-ready, active and responsible citizens.

Furthermore, the initiative emphasizes the need to accelerate the delivery of basic education services and improve facilities across the nation.

With an expected attendance of approximately 3,000 participants, the 9th Principal Congress promises to be an enriching and insightful event for all attendees.
