MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will no longer require commuters to wear face masks or maintain physical distancing when riding public utility vehicles.

“This new development is a significant step toward normalizing public transportation and supporting economic recovery,” Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said on Sunday.

President Marcos lifted the state of public health emergency on July 21.

Bautista gave assurance that the DOTr will maintain frequent sanitization of public transportation units.
