Former lawmaker named LTO chief

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has named former lawmaker Vigor Mendoza II as chief of the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

The Presidential Communications Office announced Mendoza’s appointment to the LTO in a Facebook post yesterday.

Mendoza, who will carry the rank of assistant secretary, will succeed Hector Villacorta, who has been serving as the agency’s officer-in-charge since May.

Mendoza is a former representative of the United Transport Koalisyon or 1-UTAK party-list. He obtained his economics degree from the Ateneo de Manila University and his law degree from the Ateneo Law School.

Other new appointees are Arturo Trinidad II (director II of the Insurance Commission), Moises Tamayo (director II of the National Bureau of Investigation), William Quinto (director III of the energy department), Jesus Atal Jr. (director IV of the labor department), Philippe Lhuillier (Philippine ambassador to Spain with concurrent jurisdiction over the Principality of Andorra) and Joselito Caballero (director III of the public works department).
