MANILA, Philippines — Secretary Amenah Pangandaman of the Department of Budget and Management was named Public Servant of the Year among honorees of the Men & Women Who Matter list of the Asia Leaders Awards, held on June 26 at the embassy of Malaysia in partnership with Rising Tigers Magazine.

The Asia Leaders Awards aims to recognize individuals who contribute in making the Philippines a premier business hub in Asia, and who demonstrate excellent leadership and outstanding accomplishments for the people’s welfare.

“I receive this honor with deep gratitude and humility,” Pangandaman said upon accepting the award.

“This award speaks to our highest aspirations to demonstrate leadership in a way that uplifts the lives of the Filipino people. More than a recognition, this award has summoned a renewed spirit of patriotism in me – to continue being in the act of service and responsibility where no Filipino is left behind,” the DBM secretary emphasized.

“This recognition has challenged me to work harder and empower others to join our crusade towards achieving our Agenda for Prosperity,” she said.

Other awardees include Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Special Envoy of the President to the People’s Republic of China for Trade, Investments and Tourism Maynard Ngu and Malaysian Ambassador Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino.

The event is supported by ambassadors from the various embassies, non-government organizations, Philippine Airlines and other leading companies across the country.

It spotlights executives and innovators from different industries that are making a difference in Asia. It is now on its second year in collaboration with Rising Tigers Magazine, a digital and print publication that covers prominent tycoons and rising leaders from the private and public sectors.
