MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) is undergoing a rebrand ever since the previous Duterte administration renamed the Population Commission in 2018.
The CPD will eventually drop the POPCOM abbreviation and switch to CPD, in accordance with the law.
“The rebrand of the commission as CPD is already being implemented in all its regional offices, with the general guidance of its central office,” said CPD executive director Lisa Grace Bersales.
Bersales said the agency is focusing on the implementation of the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action 2023-2028, anchored on the Marcos administration’s Philippine Development Plan.
CPD will celebrate the 55th year of its establishment in 2024.
The Duterte administration reattached the CPD to the National Economic and Development Authority to strengthen the development and implementation of population-related programs.
