MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos yesterday expressed support for the LGBTQ+ community even as he acknowledged their immense contribution in various fields.

As the nation marks Pride Month, the President stressed the importance of promoting respect for the sector.

“It is important to continue to support, respect and recognize their important role in our society,” Marcos said in Filipino in his vlog on YouTube.

He cited the LGBTQ+ members as “responsible” members of society, who work “tirelessly” for their families.

“Let’s show them our appreciation and let’s be proud of them for they embody the skills and prowess of Filipinos,” the Chief Executive said.

“In the new Philippines, Filipinos are free. In the new Philippines, Filipinos are forward-thinking and free from discrimination or mockery. That’s the message we must continue to bring,” he said.
