MANILA, Philippines — More than 10 million children have been vaccinated under the “Chikiting Ligtas” campaign of the Department of Health (DOH).
Latest data released by the DOH showed that as of June 14, 8,121,492 children who are nine to 59 months old were immunized against measles and rubella.
“These children represent 83.69 percent of the 9.5 million targeted for immunization against MR,” the DOH said, referring to measles and rubella.
On the other hand, the DOH said there are 2,342,268 children 0-59 months old that were able to receive oral polio vaccines. This is 81.71 percent of the over 3 million targeted children eligible to get OPVs.
The DOH also reported that 3,963,762 received Vitamin A supplement.The nationwide supplemental immunization drive was conducted the whole month of May and was extended until June 15.
The Chikiting Ligtas campaign aimed to immunize 9.5 million children against measles and rubella and give bivalent oral polio vaccine to 11.5 million children.
