MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. is backing President Marcos’ push for digitalization of transactions in government to minimize corruption.

Acorda said yesterday he supports Marcos’ assessment that through digitalization and the use of available apps, all transactions can be simplified, a move that would minimize corruption and other abuses.

Marcos on Friday launched the eGov PH Super App, which he said will streamline processes and minimize corruption. The activity is part of the commemoration of the National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month this June.

As for the PNP, Acorda said online transactions for license and permit requirements of civilians, procurement of supplies and processing of applications for recruitment are now in full digital format.

These innovations, he said, are compliant with provisions of Republic Act 11032, or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act.

“The PNP’s fourth focused agenda on ICT development augurs well with the desire of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for digitalized transactions in all government agencies,” Acorda said in a statement.

Acorda said the National ICT Month is an opportunity for them to cascade awareness among all police units and stakeholders on the significant role of ICT in the efficient delivery of government services.

Maj. Gen. Bernard Banac, director of the Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management, called on all police personnel and units to register and link-up with the eGov PH Super App.

Banac said the mobile application integrates the multi-sectoral government through a one-stop online system that will minimize economic costs for citizens.
