MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will fly from the United States to the United Kingdom to attend King Charles III’s coronation on May 6.
“The President and the First Lady were also invited to attend His Majesty the King Charles III’s coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on May 6 and His Majesty’s reception for overseas representatives the day before, which is on May 5 at Buckingham Palace,” said Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Teresita Daza on yesterday.
The President’s attendance at the event would add to the goodwill between the Philippines and the United Kingdom and serve to strengthen bilateral ties.
Following the London trip, Marcos and other ASEAN leaders are expected to adopt a roadmap on Timor Leste’s full membership in the regional bloc at the summit.
According to Daza, the Prime Minister of Timor Leste, Taur Matan Ruak, is expected to attend the ASEAN summit on May 10-11 as an observer for the first time.
Marcos would also take part in the 15th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asian Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit on May 11, she added.
