MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos asked his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, to marry him again as they marked their 30th wedding anniversary on Monday.
Marcos shared yesterday on Twitter photos of their pearl anniversary celebration, which the Chief Executive said was attended by family and close friends, many of whom were present at their wedding in 1993.
“She said yes (again)!” the 65-year-old President said.
“Thirty years later there is still no place I’d rather be and no person I’d rather be with. Liza, you will always be the girl of my dreams,” he said.
One of the photos showed Marcos giving Liza, 63, a ring and a letter.
“Make all my dreams come true! Marry me again! Happy anniversary!” Marcos said in his letter to Liza.
Marcos and Liza tied the knot on April 17, 1993 at the San Francesco Convent in Fiesole, Italy, according to the President’s website.
In a speech at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in September last year, Marcos said he and Liza met in New York in 1986 when the First Lady was then working as a lawyer.
They have three children, Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro,” Joseph Simon and William Vincent.
The First Couple renewed their wedding vows in Florence, Italy in April 2018.
