MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) celebrated its 75th founding anniversary yesterday with a humanitarian drive in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
The PRC, led by its chairman, former senator Richard Gordon, also gave recognition to their donors and volunteers who, for years, have been alleviating human suffering and uplifting human dignity.
“April 15 is a day of celebration, the day we express our appreciation to our donors and volunteers who embodied the values and mission of the PRC in the last 75 years,” Gordon said in a statement.
The PRC held several activities in Metro Manila yesterday. Among these were the walk for humanity and human cross formation at the Manila High School in Intramuros and the Marikina Sports Center in Marikina City.
Red Cross volunteers also held a food bazaar at the Cuartel De Santa Lucia in Manila.
The PRC’s chapters in other parts of the country also held activities, including coastal clean up drives at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales and San Fernando City in La Union.
Tree planting activities were held in Batangas and Guimaras.
In Zamboanga City, volunteers held Operation Tuli. The PRC also had medical missions nationwide.
