Majority satisfied with Congress, SC, Cabinet – SWS
MANILA, Philippines — While most Filipinos are satisfied with the performance of top government institutions in the first six months of the Marcos administration, the newly released survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) last December showed the Cabinet rating a tad behind Congress and the Supreme Court (SC).
Results of the Dec. 10-14 survey that came out last Thursday showed that 75 percent of the respondents were satisfied with the Senate, with six percent dissatisfied and 18 percent undecided.
Sixty-three percent were satisfied with the performance of the House of Representatives, with seven percent dissatisfied and 29 percent undecided.
Satisfaction with the SC was at 62 percent, with nine percent dissatisfied and 29 percent undecided.
The Marcos administration’s Cabinet, though, received the lowest satisfaction among top government institutions at 59 percent, with nine percent dissatisfied and 32 percent undecided.
Based on the results, net satisfaction with the four institutions were at +68 for the Senate, +56 for the House of Representatives, +53 for the Supreme Court and +50 for the Cabinet, all classified as “very good.”
The net satisfaction rating is the rounded off difference between those who said that they are satisfied and dissatisfied with the performance of a particular government institution.
SWS classifies net satisfaction ratings of at least +70 as “excellent”; +50 to +69 as “very “good”; +30 to +49 as “good”; +10 to +29 as “moderate”; +9 to -9 as “neutral”; -10 to -29 as “poor”; -30 to -49 as “bad”; -50 to -69 as “very bad” and -70 and below as “execrable.”
Compared to a similar survey conducted in October 2022, net satisfaction with the Senate increased from +64 (70 percent satisfied, six percent dissatisfied), while it remained at +56 for the House of Representatives (63 percent satisfied, seven percent dissatisfied).
Net satisfaction of the SC increased by three points from +50 (60 percent satisfied, 10 percent dissatisfied) and decreased by two points for the Cabinet from +52 (60 percent satisfied, eight percent dissatisfied) to +50 (59 percent satisfied, nine percent dissatisfied).
According to SWS, net satisfaction with the Senate was “excellent” in Mindanao and “very good” elsewhere in the country.
It was “very good” in all areas for the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court, while it was “very good” in all areas except the Visayas, where it was at “good” +43, for the Cabinet.
SWS’s 2022 Fourth Quarter survey had 1,200 respondents and a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percent.
