MANILA, Philippines — Ninety-three percent of adult Filipinos are hopeful that the worst of the COVID-19 crisis in the country is over, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

However, 78 percent of the 1,200 adults polled are still worried about catching COVID-19, SWS said.

The survey, conducted from Dec. 10 to 14 but released only yesterday, also showed that 59 percent are “worried a great deal” while 18 percent are “somewhat worried,” nine percent are “worried a little” and 13 percent not worried at all.

OCTA Research said the seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) increased from 2.2 percent to 3.2 percent.

But OCTA fellow Guido David said the positivity rate or the percentage of people found positive for SARS-CoV-2 among the total number of individuals tested in NCR remained below five percent.

From 2.2 percent positivity rate on March 11, David said the positivity rate increased to 3.2 percent on March 18.

The Department of Health reported that local government units in Metro Manila recorded decreasing COVID-19 cases.
