MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confiscated on Friday some P120-million worth of alleged smuggled frozen products in a series of raids of seven warehouses and cold storage facilities in Navotas.

In a statement, the BOC yesterday said a team composed of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) and other government agencies conducted inspections on the warehouses after receiving information on the alleged smuggled poultry products.

CIIS-MICP chief Alvin Enciso led the team in serving the letter of authority signed by BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, who lauded their swift action.

Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence group Juvymax Uy underscored the importance of stopping the entry of the smuggled products.

Found in the warehouses were various products such as frozen pork legs, chicken drumsticks, pork spareribs, squid rings, crayfish, pork ears, pork hinges, balone, beef, pork aorta, chicken feet, pork riblets, golden pompano, pangasius fillet and boneless pork ham.
