No survivors in Cessna plane crash in Isabela
MANILA, Philippines — None of the six passengers onboard the Cessna 206 plane that went missing in January survived the crash, the Isabela Incident Management Team said Thursday.
Constante Foronda, head of the incident management team, said that all six passengers, including the pilot, died from the incident, based on an ABS-CBN livestream of the press conference.
“Sadly, there were no survivors. We delayed this briefing until the relatives of all the passengers and the pilot have been informed,” Foronda said.
Rescue workers dispatched to the location are now working on recovering the bodies, which is expected to take three days.
Foronda added that a former official from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines will be attempting to visit the crash site to investigate the incident.
“Hopefully they can go there themselves so they can see with their own eyes the wreckage and make a more accurate determination and conclusion,” Foronda said.
Foronda said that his recommendations based on the search-and-rescue operation is for all airplanes to have an emergency locator transmitter, as well as added training for pilots to navigate all kinds of rough terrain.
Authorities located the missing Cessna plane on Thursday, more than a month since it went missing.
