MANILA, Philippines — Half of the Top 10 graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA)’s Masidtalak Class of 2023 are women.

The five women, who will be among the new public servants in government, are Jail Cadet Mary Louis Moyano, Police Cadets Clarie Gean Pambid, Gezelle Sadian and Kimberly Cruz, and Fire Cadet Gillian Torlao.

Moyano, who was ranked third, will join the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

A resident of Gumaca in Quezon, Moyano will receive three awards for her academic excellence – the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Kampilan Award, BJMP Kampilan Award and Servant Leadership Kampilan Award.

Next is Pambid who ranked fifth in their class. She will join the PNP upon her graduation.

Sadian, Torlao and Cruz were ranked sixth, seventh and 10th, respectively.

They were presented last Monday during a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

This year’s class valedictorian is 25-year-old Police Cadet Francis Geneta of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

The other cadets who will graduate on top of their class are Police Cadets John Rafael Desiderio, Jefferson Mamauag and Patrick John Alabado, and Fire Cadet Eden Jhun Santos.

Their graduation is set tomorrow (March 10) in commencement exercises at the PNPA in Silang, Cavite, with President Marcos as guest of honor and speaker.

PNPA director Maj. Gen. Eric Noble said there are 208 graduating cadets this year.

Of the number, 186 will join the PNP, 11 in the BJMP and 11 in the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Noble said the cadets endured challenges due to restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, which hit the country in 2020.
