Marcos to attend PMA alumni homecoming
Fort del Pilar, Baguio City, Philippines — President Marcos will attend the alumni homecoming today of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), his first as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Though not his first time to attend the alumni homecoming – this year held as a face-to-face event again after the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns – Marcos, an adopted member of PMA Class of 1979, will address the academy for the first time as President.
Marcos had been attending past alumni homecomings after the Marcos family returned home from exile in Hawaii in 1992.
During the 2016 elections when he ran in tandem with the late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Marcos joined the cadets on parade at the Borromeo Field in that year’s homecoming rites.
This year’s PMA alumni homecoming is themed: PMA Cavaliers: “Sama-sama sa Pag-unlad sa Kabila ng Pandemya at Kalamidad.”
This year’s Diamond Jubilarians are PMA class of 1963; Golden Jubilarians are PMA class of 1973 and Silver Jubilarians are PMA class of 1998. Class 1993 is the Senior Host class.
The Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. will award chosen “Cavaliers” (graduates) for their fetes as Lifetime Achievement Awardees, Cavalier Awardees and Cavaliers Pandemic Heroes.
