Go attends Super Health Center groundbreaking in Davao Occidental
MANILA, Philippines — Committed to help the government capacitate and build more health facilities that would benefit disadvantaged Filipinos especially in the provinces, Sen. Bong Go personally attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Don Marcelino Super Health Center in Davao Occidental last Saturday.
Upon the invitation of the Department of Health and the local government of Don Marcelino, Go was instrumental in pushing for the budget of the Super Health Center.
“With the help of Gov. Franklin Bautista, Vice Gov. Lorna Bandigan, Rep. Claude Bautista, Mayor Michael Maruya, Vice Mayor Mark Edward Anthony Maruya and other officials of Don Marcelino, the construction of the Super Health Center was made possible,” Go, chair of the Senate committee on health and demography, said in his speech.
Go said that during his travels around the country, he noticed that fourth and fifth class municipalities were without their own health centers. “Pregnant women have to travel by tricycle for hours because there are no nearby health centers.”
There will also be Super Health Centers in Sarangani and Santa Maria.
Some 307 SHCs were funded in 2022 through Go’s initiative and he has likewise successfully pushed for adequate funds for more SHCs in the 2023 health budget.
