MANILA, Philippines — The nationwide COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped to 2.8 percent, the OCTA Research group said.

OCTA Research fellow Guido David said in a Twitter post Saturday that the nationwide positivity rate decreased after the Department of Health reported 225 new cases the same day.

“We may still see waves of infections with new variants, but nothing alarming unless the virus mutates into something very different,” David said.

Metro Manila has the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 90 new cases, followed by Rizal (14) and Cavite (13). Davao del Sur, Iloilo and Pampanga recorded eight new cases.

OCTA said on Saturday that the percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Metro Manila further decreased to 2.9 percent.
